Commercial Energy Efficiency Case Studies

A few months ago, we published some of our best commercial energy efficiency case studies we completed in 2016. We continue to help customers save energy and money by upgrading their lighting and mechanical building systems. Here’s a few of our most recent project highlights.

LEI Corporation

Founded in 1987 in Boylston, MA, Landscaping Etc., Inc. (LEI) specializes in professional commercial landscape maintenance, landscape development, construction services, and snow maintenance. LEI Corporation also conducts large commercial projects across New England.

Prism helped LEI Corporation update its existing lighting and heating systems, installing LED lights, programmable thermostats, and modular cabin unit heaters. The new equipment will help LEI Corporation reduce its annual energy consumption by 70% and save $47,467 on their annual energy bills.

Hampden-Wilbraham Regional School District: Stony Hill School

The Stony Hill School is an elementary school that is part of the Hampden-Wilbraham Regional School District. The HWRSD is a fully accredited Pre-K-12 public school district, comprised of seven schools that educates approximately 3,200 students. Prism worked on all of the schools within the district, upgrading both interior, exterior, and parking lot lighting throughout.

The school will reduce its energy consumption by 33,230 kWh, saving an estimated $5,462 in annual energy costs and $5,000 in avoided maintenance costs. Most importantly, the school’s light levels have significantly improved, enhancing safety within and around the school.

Town of Lakeville

Incorporated as a separated town from Middleborough 1853 and located approximately 40 miles south of Boston, The Town of Lakeville is a residential community of about 10,600 citizens. The town is named after the system of lakes inhabiting its geography, including Assawompset Pond, Great Quittacas Pond, Little Quittacas Pond, Pocksha Pond, and Long Pond.

Prism has helped the town reduce its energy consumption by 45,506 kWh, saving $4,642 in annual energy costs. The town will reduce its need for fossil fuels by saving 7,643 in gas (therms), 2,431 gallons of oil, and 366 gallons of propane. The projects were funded with a combination of DOER grant funds the Town received from the Green Communities Designation and Grant Program and Middleboro Gas & Electric (MG&E) funds. The project was completed with no out of pocket expenses to the town.

Quincy Youth Arena

Quincy Youth Arena

Since 1973, “The Best Ice on the South Shore” has been home to children and young adult hockey teams and many leagues on the South Shore. Prism worked with the arena to significantly improve the light levels throughout the facility, with a focus on the rink lighting.

Prism helped the hockey rink reduce its annual energy savings by 76,137 kWh, an annual cost savings of $10,963, with a payback of only 1.4 years.
