Prism Energy Services Charity Drive 2015 – Part 3

From January through March, Prism Energy Services has been engaged in a canned/non-perishable food drive for local food pantries across Massachusetts. Normally, Prism Energy Services runs a charity drive at the year’s end, and Prism employees are always very generous. This time around, we really wanted to step up our game, so we developed a plan to do something for the whole year. We decided the first quarter of the year would be dedicated to a food drive. In the first initiative, Prism donated 113 goods to the Greater Boston Food Bank. In the second month, Prism increased the stakes and donated 130 goods to the Cambridge Senior Center Food Pantry. This month, we really stepped up our game. At the end of March 31, Prism employees had donated a collective total of 203 cans and non-perishable goods. Next week, we will drop these off at the Worcester Salvation Army. In total, we have collected 446 goods.

As you’ll see in our cover photo, we had so many cans this time around, it was a bit difficult to create a literal food pyramid, so we laid everything out on two table sections from our kitchen area.

From the very beginning, we had high hopes for this charity drive, but we never expected it to end with such a grand finale. On Friday, March 27, we still needed 67 cans just to reach the 400 mark. By Tuesday, March 31, we had reached a total of 446. That’s 113 cans in just three business days. That’s also the same total number of cans collected during the entire month of January!

Needless to say, we’re proud of everyone and their generous contributions to charity. By setting goals and deadlines, we were able to exceed our expectations. This was just our first food drive, and we’re expecting to surpass our marks next year.

For the rest of the year, we will be active within our communities in different ways. This quarter, we are trying to get people to come together and participate a walk/run for charity. We hope to see you out there. Stay tuned for more charity pictures over the next few months.
